Cork Set to Enjoy Summer Sunshine in Final Week of August
After enduring weeks of heavy rain, Cork residents can finally look forward to a spell of summer sunshine, according to the latest forecast from Met Éireann. The weather agency predicts clear and dry conditions for the final week of August, bringing some much-needed relief to the Rebel County.
In recent weeks, many weekend plans have been ruined by poor weather, but today’s forecast offers a glimmer of hope. Clear skies are expected across Cork, with minimal cloud cover until late in the evening. Temperatures will range between 16C and 18C, peaking at 19C in the mid-afternoon. While there may be a few isolated showers, they are likely to pass quickly, and overall, the next week is expected to be mostly dry with temperatures reaching the low 20s.
MetSwift Meteorologist James Peacock has reported an “intense heat dome” making its way towards Ireland and the UK, indicating a positive outlook for Cork. However, it’s important to note that longer-range forecasts are subject to change, especially given the unpredictable weather patterns in late August. The presence of three Atlantic storms – Franklin, Gert, and Emily – could indirectly affect conditions in Europe.
Despite the uncertainties, Cork residents can look forward to some much-needed sunshine. The regional forecast for Munster indicates mostly dry conditions today, with long spells of sunshine and just a few passing showers. Temperatures will reach 18 or 19 degrees, accompanied by moderate westerly breezes. The solar UV index is classified as moderate.
Tonight, clear spells are expected, along with scattered showers and the possibility of the odd heavy shower. Temperatures will range from 9 to 12 degrees, with a moderate to fresh west to northwest breeze.
Tomorrow, Friday, will be a breezy day in Cork, with a mix of sunshine and showers. Some of the showers may be heavy, with a chance of thunder. Maximum temperatures will reach 16 to 19 degrees, accompanied by fresh and gusty northwest winds.
As always, it’s important to stay updated with the latest forecasts, as weather patterns can change rapidly. However, for now, it seems that Cork residents can look forward to a week of relatively clear and dry weather, allowing them to make the most of the remaining days of August.
