Irish Man Living in Vietnam Passes Away After Tragic Accident
Damien Horgan, a native of Doneraile in Co. Cork, has sadly passed away in Vietnam after sustaining serious injuries in a tragic accident. The 34-year-old had been living in Vietnam for four years when the incident occurred. His death notice states that he passed away “peacefully in the exceptional care of Cho Ray Hospital, Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam”.
Damien Horgan was the beloved son of Francis and Monica Horgan and the brother of Stephen, Colman, John, Mary (Slattery), Aoife, Therese (Enright), and Fiona (O’Regan). He will also be deeply missed by his brothers-in-law Tom, David, Patrick, and Adrian, sisters-in-law Eilish, Valerie, and Sinead, as well as his cherished nephews and nieces Adam, Darren, Megan, Ben, Leah, Grace, Max, Ava, Ruby, Honor, Jack, Bobby, Dara, Joe, and Fiadh. He is also survived by his Uncle Stephen, Aunts Myra, Anna, and Kathleen, and a wide circle of cousins, neighbors, and friends.
The funeral arrangements for Damien Horgan will be announced at a later stage, allowing family and friends to gather and pay their respects.
In the months since the accident, a GoFundMe page was set up to cover Damien Horgan’s medical treatment. The campaign successfully raised over €115,000, a testament to the support and generosity of the community. However, despite the best efforts of medical professionals and the funds raised, Damien’s condition unfortunately deteriorated.

One mourner expressed their sincere condolences to the Horgan family, describing Damien as a brave young man who fought until the end.
