Dublin and 16 Counties Brace for Thunderstorm Chaos and Flooding Peril

A Status Yellow thunderstorm warning has been issued for Dublin and 16 other counties in Ireland. This warning includes all of Leinster, as well as Waterford, Tipperary, Leitrim, Cavan, and Monaghan. The warning is in effect from 8 am this morning until 9 pm tonight. Met Eireann, the Irish meteorological service, has cautioned that heavy rain showers accompanied by thunderstorms are likely throughout the day. They have also warned of potential spot flooding, poor visibility, and difficult travel conditions. The UK Met Office has issued a similar Status Yellow thunderstorm warning for Northern Ireland, which will be in effect from 2 pm until 10 pm today. They have advised that these thunderstorms may cause some disruption to travel later in the afternoon and early evening.

Looking ahead, tomorrow is also expected to bring more rain showers to Dublin, with the possibility of some turning heavy during the afternoon and evening. The morning will start off fairly dull, but there will be a gradual improvement in weather conditions throughout the day, with some decent sunny spells expected later on. Temperatures will range from 17 to 21 degrees Celsius, and there will be light to moderate northwesterly breezes.
