South East Technological University (SETU) is set to offer a range of new degree courses in the areas of agricultural science, set design, and sports management. The university will host its annual spring open day at its Kilkenny road campus in Carlow on Saturday, May 13th, from 10am to 2pm. This year’s open day marks the first anniversary of SETU as a technological university, and the institution is excited to offer a diverse range of courses to students.
Among the new courses on offer is the Bachelor of Science in Organic Agriculture, which is catered towards those with an interest in the agri-food industry. This course will provide students with an in-depth understanding of the science behind organic farming and sustainable food production. Additionally, SETU is offering a Bachelor of Engineering in Agricultural Systems Engineering, which covers the areas of agribusiness and agricultural engineering that support the agri-food sector.
Alison Moore, schools liaison and alumni officer at SETU in Carlow, is encouraging prospective students to attend the open day. She said, “attending the open day is an opportunity to meet with our lecturers and have any of those niggling questions answered before the CAO change of mind deadline. Our current students will be running guided campus tours to showcase our amazing facilities and to share with you their own experience as an SETU student”.
SETU is also expanding its Bachelor of Science in Set Design and Construction course, which focuses on developing graduates who can contribute to the expansion of the film industry. The university is also expanding its Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management and Coaching, with three specialties: GAA, rugby, and football. Other areas with new courses include business, computing, software development, science, engineering, humanities, and sport.
SETU is committed to providing students with a high-quality education that prepares them for the workforce. The university’s courses are designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in their chosen field. SETU’s faculty is made up of experienced professionals who are passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of leaders.
