Get Ready to Sizzle: Met Eireann Predicts Summer’s Arrival with a Big Shift in Cork Weather by Mid-Week!

"Summer finally arrives in Ireland as temperatures soar into the twenties this week"

Get ready to dust off your sunglasses and sunscreen because summer is finally here! After a cool and cloudy start to the day, Ireland is set to experience clear skies and temperatures rising into the low twenties by Thursday. Met Eireann predicts that the southern regions, particularly Munster, will see the best of the weather with temperatures reaching 22-23 C. A strong high-pressure system is settling over Ireland, bringing warm, calm weather that should make the end of May a very pleasant spell. These stable conditions are expected to continue throughout the week and into the weekend with sunshine and warm, pleasant weather on the cards for most of us.

Today, Monday 22nd May, is set to be dry with good spells of sunshine in the afternoon and early evening. The highest temperatures will be between 14 to 18 degrees Celsius, with the best values in the southeast. The night will stay dry under broken cloud with lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees Celsius.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 23rd May, will be dry and mostly sunny with the highest temperatures of 13 to 18 or 19 degrees Celsius. The coolest temperatures will be along Atlantic fringes but mild in sunshine, with more than moderate northwest breezes.

Looking ahead, the outlook for the week is mostly fine with light breezes as high pressure dominates. Temperatures are expected to become warmer too. Tuesday night will be dry and clear, apart from coastal showers in the northwest with lows of 4 to 8 degrees Celsius in light northeasterly breezes. Wednesday will be dry and mostly sunny, with cloudier skies across the northwest producing some light rain or showers. Highest temperatures will be between 14 to 19 degrees Celsius, with the best values across the east and southeast.

Thursday will be warm and sunny with temperatures climbing into the high teens or low 20s widely, possibly higher in prolonged sunshine further south. Winds will be mostly light northerly, though coastal breezes will set in at times. Friday and the weekend will see little change with warm and summery conditions continuing.

So, get ready to enjoy the sunshine and make the most of the warm weather. Don’t forget to pack your sunscreen and head to the beach or plan a holiday to make the most of this pleasant spell.
