Get Ready to Shop ‘Til You Drop: Dundrum Welcomes the New €14.8m Penneys Store!

"Penneys to unveil new 60,000sq ft store in Dundrum following €15m expansion and relocation project"

Penneys, the popular Irish fashion retailer, is set to open its doors to a new and improved 60,000sq ft store in Dundrum Town Centre next month. The relocation and expansion project cost the company €14.8 million, resulting in a 64% increase in size from the current Dundrum Penneys. The store, located on the second and third floor of the former House of Fraser site, will become the third largest Penneys store in Ireland, following the flagship store in Mary Street and Penneys in Blanchardstown Shopping Centre, Dublin.

The opening of the new store in Dundrum is part of the company’s commitment to invest over €250 million in Ireland over the next 10 years. This includes the development, relocation, and refurbishment of its stores across the country. Penneys, which operates as Primark outside of Ireland, currently has 37 stores in Ireland and over 400 in total across Europe and the US. The new store in Dundrum will offer a much wider selection of products across fashion, beauty, lifestyle, and homeware, including some great new services.

Damien O’Neill, Head of Penneys Ireland and Northern Ireland, expressed his excitement about the opening of the new store, stating that the company is “proud to continue investing in Irish retail”. He added that the Dundrum location is important for Penneys and is very popular with their customers. The company is confident that its customers will love the new space, and as it’s twice the size of the current store, they are excited to offer a wider selection of products.

To support the bigger Dundrum store, Penneys is currently recruiting for a number of retail roles. Interested candidates can apply for a position through the Primark careers website. The company’s investment in Ireland also includes a €60m redevelopment project for its Patrick Street store in Cork City, which will expand to encompass most of the city block that the company acquired in stages in recent years. Additionally, Penneys is constructing a €75 million state-of-the-art warehousing and distribution facility in Newbridge, Co. Kildare.

The new store in Dundrum is expected to be a major draw for shoppers, particularly given the popularity of the location and the company’s reputation for affordable and fashionable clothing. Penneys’ commitment to investing in Irish retail is a positive sign for the industry, particularly given the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. As the company continues to expand and improve its offerings, it is likely that Penneys will remain a popular choice for Irish shoppers for years to come.
