A university student has shared her savvy garden transformation on TikTok, revealing how she gave her garden and patio a glow-up for less than £100. Maddy, who goes by the username @artschoolcliche, completed the project in just two days, using freebies and bargains from Homebase. The video has since gone viral, with over one million views and 150k likes.
At the start of the video, Maddy showed viewers the state of her garden, which was covered in weeds and had a grubby patio. She began the transformation by de-weeding the patio and spraying it with weed killer. She then washed all of the fences with a wood cleaner to get rid of cobwebs.
Maddy was given some free chairs by her neighbour, which she sanded down and painted turquoise with paint she found on sale at Homebase. She then gave all of the furniture a good clean and added some potted plants around the garden to give it some life. Lastly, she added a parasol, matching cushions to the chairs and some fairy lights to the fence.
The end result was a beautifully transformed garden with a fresh and vibrant look. People were left seriously impressed with the student’s garden glow-up, with many complimenting her on the stunning results.
Maddy’s garden transformation is a testament to the power of a little creativity, resourcefulness and bargain hunting. With a limited budget, she was able to create a beautiful outdoor space that she can enjoy throughout the summer.
