Dublin Weather: Afternoon Showers and Gusts to Sweep the Capital

Met Eireann forecasts widespread rainfall and blustery conditions across Dublin today.

As Dublin braces for a wet and windy afternoon, Met Eireann has issued a warning of widespread rainfall set to drench the city. The capital will experience gusty southwesterly winds alongside the downpours, with daytime temperatures hovering between 12 and 13 degrees Celsius.

The rainfall is predicted to persist into the evening before gradually clearing eastwards overnight. A mixture of scattered showers and clear spells will follow suit.

The strong winds are also expected to subside overnight, veering towards the southwest. Night-time temperatures will dip to lows ranging from 3 to 7 degrees Celsius.

The outlook for the next few days is as follows:

Wednesday

A dry start with sunny spells is in store for many parts of Dublin on Wednesday. However, the weather will become increasingly breezy and cloudy, with blustery showers spreading from the west in the afternoon. Some showers could be heavy, accompanied by hail and isolated thunderstorms. Temperatures will peak at 11 or 12 degrees in a moderate to fresh and gusty southwesterly wind, with stronger winds near the coast.

Thursday

Thursday will see a similar pattern as Wednesday, with a dry start and sunny spells in many areas. The day will progress with increasing cloudiness and blustery showers arriving from the west during the afternoon. Heavy showers, hail, and isolated thunderstorms are possible, with highs of 11 or 12 degrees and gusty southwesterly winds intensifying near the coast.

Friday

Showers will initially be concentrated in the west and north, becoming more widespread by the afternoon, with some turning heavy. Light to moderate southwesterly winds will freshen in southern counties, and another bout of strong winds may impact southern and southwestern counties later in the day. Top temperatures will range from 10 to 13 degrees, with the coolest readings near the west coast.
