Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, announced his plan to find his successor towards the end of this year during his virtual appearance at the World Government Summit held in Dubai.
Musk cited the need to financially stabilise the social media platform as his main priority before finding a new leader to take the reins. He expressed optimism in the company’s future and the timing of the new CEO transition.
During the summit, Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, chairman of the event and UAE’s minister of cabinet affairs, virtually interviewed Musk, who also shared his vision for Twitter. Musk desires to transform Twitter into a source of truth and has initiated efforts to rid the platform of misinformation.
Furthermore, he encouraged other CEOs, ministers, and companies to speak authentically even in the face of potential criticism.
Musk has been the CEO of Twitter since taking the social media platform private for $44 billion in October 2020. Bloomberg reports Musk’s personal fortune to be $187 billion, making him the world’s second-richest man.
