There’s been much speculation about whether Ireland will experience the so-called “Beast from the East 2” after reports emerged of Sudden Stratospheric Warming (SSW).
However, Carlow Weather’s Alan O’Reilly has given a possible time frame for when this extreme weather could hit, stating that any possible impacts from SSW could be around the end of the month. While this doesn’t mean that “Beast from the East 2” will necessarily happen, it may help to inform government decisions about the additional cost of living support.
Meanwhile, for today, the national forecaster Met Eireann predicts that Dublin’s weather will be mostly dry, with spells of hazy sunshine. However, a further spell of rain is expected to edge into Atlantic counties later this afternoon, extending nationwide later in the evening. While tomorrow will have a damp and misty start, some sunny spells will develop before patchy outbreaks of drizzle occur in the evening.
Met Eireann’s national outlook indicates that the weather will be unsettled in the coming days, with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle and winds becoming brisk. However, high pressure is expected to build over Ireland on Sunday, bringing dry weather and sunshine.
In the meantime, tonight will be rather wet and breezy in Dublin, with temperatures ranging from 5 to 8 degrees. Tomorrow’s highest temperatures will be from 11 to 13 degrees, with mostly moderate west to southwest winds.
